Us girls are so fortunate right now to be able to choose from so many different hair styling products. There are so many on the market right now that you may find it hard to decide which one to use. Professional salon products really are the best, but there is also a bundle of good products use can purchase in discounts stores. Choosing the right styling products for your hair type and the style you wear is essential. Not all styling products work the same on everyone, so the one your friend may be raving about may not work as well on you. Always, read the label to make sure the product you are buying is formulated for your special hair type.

Hair Sprays

- They come in so many different varieties, that it can make your decision to buy one very confusing. If you need a hairspray that is strong enough to hold a style, yet still be flexible enough to brush through, you need a “Working spray”, “Shaping spray” or a “Flexible hold spray”. These do not cause a heavy build-up after using it more than once a day. Maybe you don’t use a hair-spray until you’re through styling then the best choice would be a “Mega Hold”, “Super Hold”, “Finishing Spray”, or a “Freezing Spray” all of these provide the maximum hold for any style. You don’t want to brush or comb your hair after using one of these, because they are meant to keep your hair from moving around.

Mousse

- Is another styling aid meant to use on damp hair, it helps build body and volume into the hair. There are some Volumizing Mousses on the market right now, that really do pump up the volume of your hair. Even if you wear a straight hair-style you still might want a thicker look, these will give you that. Some mousses are called “Root Lifting” , they are applied right at the roots and will give help you lift the hair at the scalp. Root lifting mousses can be used on short or long hair to keep your hair from laying flat. Mousse is very good for fine hair types, because it won’t weight it down.

Gel

- Is a thick, clear styling aid that is probably the strongest holding product, besides “Super Hold” hairspray. It is best for holding slicked or molded hairstyles. It can also be used for wet-sets with curlers, after it has dried and been brushed out you get long lasting curls and body. Gel works great on all hair types without too much heaviness.

Straightening Gel

- Can be used to temporarily straighten wavy or curly hair. Apply to damp hair and then blow-dry to relax the hair for a smooth look. It tames frizzy hair by coating the hair and weighting it down. After you shampoo, your waves and curls will come back again.

Pomade or Wax

- For use on short hair it helps show separation and makes your hair easy to mold. It is heavier than most other products and will weight fine hair down, if you use too much. Mostly used as a men’s hair grooming product, pomade has been around for years.

Shine Spray

- Adds gloss and sheen to your hair and help define your hairstyle. These products work great on all hair types, spray it on like hair-spray and it will add shine without weight. It’s also good to use before blow-drying to protect your hair from the heat.
